Siren Farm

Siren is an outdoor medical cannabis project in Portugal that blends regenerative agriculture and advanced technology to produce high-quality fresh cannabis under INFARMED regulation.

The story behind our name

Why Siren

Our name is rooted in Tondela, the town that will host our facilities, and in an ancient local legend from the Serra do Caramulo.

During the battles between Christians and Moors, a brave Christian woman is said to have stood watch from a hilltop, looking for approaching enemies. When danger appeared, she sounded her horn, her tone, alerting the soldiers below and giving her people time to prepare.

Her foresight helped turn the tide. In honor of her courage, the settlement became known as Tondela, from tom dela, her tone.

Like the legendary signal of Tondela, Siren stands for vigilance, resilience, and strategic action. We bring that same spirit to building a thoughtful, future-ready cannabis company in Portugal.

The team behind Siren

The Founders

Siren is built by two complementary operators: one focused on the science of the plant, the other on the systems that turn agricultural insight into reliable industrial outcomes.

Scientific innovation and agricultural strategy

Beatriz

Beatriz leads Siren's scientific innovation and agricultural strategy, bringing together molecular biology, AI systems architecture, and a deep understanding of plant biology.

Her background spans contributions to the ENCODE Consortium with Stanford, UCSF, Scripps, and UCSD, as well as predictive AI models for a $1B cybersecurity and executive risk portfolio, reaching 98% accuracy in critical profiles for highly regulated industries.

At Siren, she is developing an Adaptive Genetics program that combines data-driven selection, epigenetic insight, and Portuguese terroir to guide resilient cultivation decisions.

Technical infrastructure and industrial systems

João

João brings the infrastructure and industrial systems expertise needed to scale pharmaceutical-grade cultivation.

As former CTO of Aquaterra, Europe's largest avocado farm, he led the engineering team behind a real-time data platform processing IoT sensors, GPS tracking, and aerial imaging across 10,000 hectares under GlobalGAP certification for food safety, traceability, and quality control.

He also built irrigation control systems from scratch, coordinating pumps, generators, filters, mixers, and sensor data to optimize water and nutrient delivery across 200-hectare production units.

Science in the lab, intelligence in the field

Together, João and Beatriz bring a rare combination to European cannabis: proven agricultural technology at scale, rigorous genetics, and applied AI. Their partnership allows Siren to connect field sensor data, cultivation operations, and genetic selection into a vertically integrated intelligence layer for pharmaceutical-grade consistency.
