Aerial view of the Siren fields in Tondela, Portugal

Tondela · Portugal

The farm is the instrument.

Siren builds agricultural intelligence and trains it on medical cannabis in the Dão. The crop pays for the science, and it teaches our models faster than anything else we could plant.

Why this works

Four things that are true of Siren and of almost nobody else in European agricultural technology.

We own the field

The land in Tondela is ours, freehold and on the balance sheet, while most agricultural-AI companies are still negotiating access to somebody else's crop. We can run an experiment that costs a season without asking permission.

The data is a legal obligation

Pharmaceutical-grade cultivation requires per-plant traceability and batch records by law, not by preference. The regime that makes medical cannabis demanding to grow is the regime that compels the dataset into existence.

One genome, many climates

Cannabis is propagated clonally, so we can hold a genotype constant and let the season vary around it. Almost no field crop hands you that at scale. A clone block is a controlled experiment planted in soil.

Outdoors on purpose

Almost all medical cannabis is grown indoors, which controls away the exact variance we are trying to learn. Outdoor is lower-carbon, lower-cost, and the only place climate adaptation can be observed. An indoor grower is optimising a machine. We are learning a climate.

What we measure

Five layers, one plant, one season, recorded under a regime that requires the record to exist. Most agri-AI companies negotiate for data. We grow it.

  1. DNA

Whole-genome sequencing, read against a curated cannabinoid and terpene biosynthesis panel.

  2. Soil

Moisture, temperature and nutrient movement through granite-derived Dão soil, logged all season.

  3. Canopy

Aerial and ground imaging of vigour, stress and phenology, plant by plant instead of block by block.

  4. Climate

On-site weather against the day and night swing that made the Dão a wine region.

  5. Chemistry

Cannabinoid and terpene assay at harvest, closing the loop back to genotype and season.

One company, two stages

The farm is how the technology gets built, and it pays for itself while it does.

Stage one · today

Agriculture that trains

A working outdoor medical cannabis operation in the Dão. Revenue comes from flower. Every season instruments the models and field-tests the hardware on a crop we own.

Stage two · from 2029

Intelligence that scales

Platform revenue from the tools the farm proved: cultivar selection, irrigation intelligence and plant health, sold well beyond cannabis.

Where we are

Updated September 2026

Licence
Cultivation licence application filed with INFARMED. Submitted, not yet issued.
Land
Freehold in Tondela, owned outright. Siren has been a registered Portuguese company since 2022.
Science
Genomics pipeline running end to end. The selection tools built on it, including the chemotype panel and clone-fidelity screening, are in development and under pilot.
Funding
Bootstrapped on founder capital and friends and family. The goal has been to de-risk as much as possible before raising.
Next
First outdoor field season planned for 2027.

How we collaborate

Long-term relationships across the medical cannabis chain.

Pharmaceutical companies

We produce high-grade outdoor cannabis flower under EU-GACP compliance, aimed at full EU-GMP compatibility through controlled post-harvest curing. Talk to us about supply or long-term sourcing agreements.

Seed banks and breeders

We are building a genetic and chemotype library with full tracking of genotype, phenotype and environment. We welcome research collaborations, joint breeding programmes and field trials under formal agreement.

Investors and partners

We are building Siren with people who see cannabis as a stable, medical-grade crop, and Portugal as the place to prove it. If that sounds like you, we would like to talk.
